I wonder why... when I'm home I always seem to find something to do that I can't seem to want to go out. Then, I receive an invite for the #LJCXZomatoFoodCrawl. Finally, something draws me out and brings me to our first stop: Lorenzo's Way.
It has an interior that is similar to a heritage Filipino home. It was so comfortable that we didn't notice the time flew by as we sat down and dined.
Food
Caesar (295 php)
As expected from any LJC group restaurant, classic dishes like this Caesar salad is executed perfectly.
Paellas
♥ Paella Valenciana (650 php)
These days, I've been eating rice-free meals. But, I guess I'm to weak against the fragrant and flavorful Paella Valenciana. A taste of this was not enough, I had to succumb and devour even to the crispy brownish layer.
Main Courses
Inihaw na Sugpo (675 php)
Look at the precise grill marks on the Inihaw na Sugpo. You could tell by the looks that each bite into its soft and tender meat delivered a delicious juice that fills your mouth with a wonderful sensation.
♥ Costillas de Ternero Guisada Sharing (750 php)
I'm happy to be acquainted with the lavishing Costillas de Ternero Guisada. The tender beef had a sauce that an exquisite red wine essence that lingers on your taste buds.
♥ Spanish Garlic Chicken (395 php)
I don't think there's any dish that could dazzle the entire crowd like the Spanish Garlic Chicken. Who would have thoughts that chicken with a bountiful amounts of garlic cloves would be an irresistible culinary masterpiece? It reminds me of the words of wisdom my mentor Ed shared to us "Your can compare cooking to life. Life is simple, You only need to have the essential ingredients to make you happy."
Black Pata Sharing (850 php)
The Black Pata is actually one of my favorite Chinese dishes. Unfortunately, we don't cook this at home because it's too tedious to prepare so I am so happy when I get a chance to have this. Our former cook used to cook this dish excellently. Because of him, I had high standards. This version passed my standards in terms of meat texture. It's just too rich and sweet for me.
Vegetables
Adobong Puso ng Saging at Gambas (295 php)
While the Adobong Puso ng Saging at Gambas does not appear to be as grand as the other dishes, it served an essential part of our meal. It had a refreshing tangy flavor brought by the harmonious mix of vinegar and soy that reset our palates after having the more savory dishes.
Noodles, Pasta, and Rice
♥ Pancit Sotanghon sa Baby Pusit (345 php)
The Pancit Sotanghon sa Baby Pusit with a hint of kamias and squid ink on the bouncy crystal clear noodles brought a tasty massage in every mouthful. This reminded me of the Pancit Puti which I tried at Mangan. Both were pancit sotanghon dishes with kamias. But, the Pancit Puti had chicken essence while this one had squid ink essence.
Desserts
Gigil Tart (199 php)
Mango and Almond Panna Cotta (245 php)
♥ Baklava (275 php)
Because I'm a huge fan of pistachio nuts, I fully appreciate the Baklava. The Baklava I have encountered in the past is a light, slightly greasy and flaky square type. This is different and has a defining characteristic. It has a crisp coating and crunchy filling. It is not greasy at all. I liked it very much!

It was a late after meeting with my high school best friend. My lactose intolerant belly is in a grouchy mood after I loaded it up with 4 glasses or 16 scoops of ice cream during my lunch at Vikings the previous day. My friend sympathetically let me choose where we'd have lunch. And, we agreed on Kenji Tei Ramen House since pork seemed an anti-allergenic choice.
I guess the rush hour has passed since it was the only time I've seen it without a waiting line. It's quite spacious with traditional plain square wooden tables and chairs.

Yaki Gyoza (195 php)
We ordered the Original Gyoza as our centerpiece for sharing. We've grown accustomed to that sharing routine through the years.
The gyoza is delicious. The dimsum skin is perfect. It was thin and soft and was neither too moist nor dry. The pork filling is juicy and savory as well.

Restaurante Pia Y Damaso: Revisiting for a Subversive Filipino Lunch (Greenbelt Makati)
Makati, Metro Manila, Philippines
It been a long time since I last dined at Restaurante Pia Y Damaso.
It still has the same wonderful vibe as I remembered.
Food
Starter
The Crisp Cones with Crab, Corn, Tomato Relish is an interesting starter. This reminds me of a taco because of the fried crispy shell. But, instead of having something meaty or savory, this is quite the contrary as it is light and refreshing. The sauteed crab meat is sweet. It is well-complemented by the corn, onions, tomato, cucumber, cumin, cinnamon, parsley and lemon juice.
Being familiar with the Chinese Lumpia, it looked close to my expectation. But, the Chinese Lumpia Salad is a very good rendition. It was very fragrant and the play of textures made it quite interesting.
Soups & Stews
The Lang Lang is my kind of noodle soup. This is so hearty with shredded chicken, ham, stitake mushroom, woodear mushrooms, pancit molo, lomi and sotangon noodles.
Sandwiches
The Croque Quezo & Spinach is sure to impress with it's key ingredient: Malagos' goat mozarella.
I've tried the Kua Pao Pan De Sal before. And, boy am I glad to have it again.
Pasta
The Tuna Egg (Bihod) With Tapenade Seared Blue Marlin & Fresh Tomatoes is a delectable Filipino take of a pasta dish. It has caramelized onions, garlic, tuna egg roe, black olives, sardines, tomatoes, olive oil and seared blue marlin chunks.
Specials
I liked the Sisig ni Cabesang Tales because it wasn't as oily and fatty as the other sisig I've tried.
Beef & Game
I love tapa and exotic variants like Smoked Tapang Usa excites me.
Pork
The Smoked BBQ Mango Pork is so beautiful. And, the smoked barbecue and mango marmalade is a great combination.
Who doesn't want a version of crispy pata that's without the bones and easy to eat like the Crispy Boneless Pork? These crunchy pork cubes were gone in a flash!
Beverages
Because we're in a tropical country, the Tubig ni Maria Clara is fresh cucumber juice, ginger and citrus water.
Tsinoy Foodies Verdict
Restaurante Pia Y Damaso has not lost its touch. It's definitely one of the best Filipino restaurants in the area.
It still has the same wonderful vibe as I remembered.

Bellysima by Mercato Centrale: My Top 5 Picks and New Discoveries (Greenbelt 5)
Makati, Metro Manila, Philippines
Last Independence Day, I was invited to taste test at Bellysima by Mercato Centrale in Greenbelt 5. It has been awhile since my foodie girlfriends Berylle, Sumi and I got together so we agreed to go to catch up. Due to unforeseen events, Sumi wasn't able to go but Berylle and I came home with lots of goodies.
Top 5 Picks
Everyone who registered were give an empty plate, fork and a top 5 pick sheet. I'm sharing you mine.
I usually don't rank my picks when I share it. But, this time I have to emphasize that my number 1 pick is Kurikipu! The two guys behind it are culinary geniuses. I've tried their products: Saba Sa Gata Mini Pie (75 php/piece) , Dayap Meringue Mini Pie (75 php/piece), Fudge Spiced Duo (50 php/piece), Beef Tomato Pasta (100 php) and Tuna Squash Pasta (100 php) and you can't go wrong with any of them. I guess they are just new entrepreneurs so product packaing and presentation during the taste test was not as appealing as the others. But, if you get to try their products like I did, I promise that you will understand why I'm very impressed with their food quality and creativity (that can captivate your taste preference).
I don't know why we didn't get to try the main product of The Greenhouse PH which were detox juices and their Cold Brew Coffee. But, what really drew us is G Stuff's Kefir Spread (350 php). Berylle and I bought one. The family loved it very much! A jar lasts up to 3 months but it's only been a few weeks and it's almost empty. To be honest, we're just saving it for delayed gratification haha. It's a great pair to any pastry especially ciabatta. G Stuff also has flavored coconut oil which was really intriguing for us. We couldn't imagine what a stir-fried vegetable cooked with Mango Flavored Coconut Oil or Melon Flavored Coconut Oil would taste like. Have you ever tried that?
Promoting a healthy lifestyle, Salata offers Fresh Organic Kale, Salad Dressings and Crunchy Salad Toppings. I got a free taste of the Cilantro Lime Vinaigrette (165 php) and fell love at first taste. I bought one to promote healthy lifestyle for the family. As of the moment, we haven't had the chance to have a salad so they haven't tried it. But, I'm sure they will love it as much as I do.
I forgot the stall that sold the Leyna's Gourmet nor could I find any details about it. The family has occasional lazy days when we don't want to cook. We find refuge in bottled good like these. The Spanish Tuyo (185 php) and Tinapa (180 php) are so delicious I bought some for the family. On the other hand, Berylle bought the Tinapa and Pork Garlic Chorizo (185 php). No need to cook if you can have delicious dishes like this in a bottle!
Milkman Dairy Bar bring you two comfort foods: Edible Cookie Dough and Cereal Milk that you won't be able to resist. The Edible Cookie Dough is a non-baked cookie dough so it doesn't have eggs. I tried the Everything Nice (130 php) and S'mores Nutella (140 php). Berylle loved the Red Velvet (130 php). While, I liked the S'mores Nutella. The Cereal Milk is also another hit among us. It's the milk that's left on the cereal that you love.
Other Great Finds
The reason why I didn't pick Cocoa Monster as part of my top 5 is because it's already available in the leading supermarkets. We've been buying these for quite some time now and it's really good!
I have to admit a bias here. The only reason why Niji Desserts didn't make it to MY top list is because I'm difficult to please when it comes to brownies. But, objectively speaking, the Matcha Green Tea was really good and everyone was praising it!
I love the idea of Cookie Sticks. Their Stookies are really thin crunchy fun to eat biscotti. They have them in Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, Cookies & Cream, Chocolate Chip, Snickerdoodles, Coco Sugar Oatmeal, Brownie, Almond Butter and White Chocolate Chip.
The family has been meaning to visit Apag Marangle in Bacolor Pampanga. I'm glad they now have a branch at Park Square. I got to try their Nasing Marangle, Humba and Pandan Water. I have to dine in to try more!
The Granolee Cubes provides a healthy and crunchy (yes not chewy and sticky) filling snack. It comes in Green Tea Almond, All Nuts, Cranberry Raisin, Cashew-Butterscotch and Choco-Chip Raisin.
I got to try the Chocolate Coffee Nibbles of Choco Loco Gourmet of Chocolates. Those are really good!
While the Special Siomai didn't impress me, the Mr. Monty's Homemade coconut oil-based sauces were really good and very healthy too.
A lot of culture incorporates tumeric into their cuisine because of its health benefits. But, we have to admit that the distinct taste of tumeric is not appealing to the Filipino palate. Good thing Lokalitea thought of making it fun and enticing to drinking with its three flavors: Pandan, Lemon Grass and Calamansi. I got to taste all three and my choice would be the Pandan because the tumeric taste is very light with this combination.

Healthy Monsters delivers salad in a bottle if you want to commit to a healthy lifestyle.
Armanisse's Kitchen Cafe offers Nachos Overload (120 php) and Honey Calamansi Juice with Cucumber (35 php/45 php). The Honey Calamansi Juice with Cucumber is a great thirst quencher. Try it when you're in the area.
Who doesn't love peanut butter? If you love peanut butter, Jacob's Peanut Praline Butter is a superior version of it so you definitely have to try it! Between the two flavors: Hot Chili and Original, I'd go with the former because I love spicy stuff.
I liked the Oreo Cheesecake Cookies of Blush Pastriesby H&S. The Red Velvet Cookies are a popular choice too.
Support for a Good Cause
The IRRI booth sells various native organic rice. They are also looking for distributors to help our local farmers.
EF Cafe offers local healthy and organic food stuff. We got to try Friggies Watermelon Juice and their Coffee. Both are really good. They have the GK Enchanted Farm which is open to public too if you want a farm tour.
Old Finds
Some stuffs I've been acquainted with before but are Bayani Brew, Made by Max, Wise Eats, Piper's Pan, Gorgy Balls and Mio Gelati. I bought 3 jars of Dolci's Coffee Jelly (50 php)! I mentioned before that it's a family favorite.
So these are my finds at Bellysima. Share what you like so I may try them on my next visit. =)
Bellysima is open Friday and Saturday from 10 am til 10 pm at the Glorietta 5 Activity Center.
